Addresses for Final Exam Business Letter

Below are the addresses you’ll need for whichever business letter you choose to write.  Pick the correct one for the letter you’re writing. Do NOT double-space them the way they show below.  I just can’t figure out how to get the computer to STOP double-spacing!

This one is for Mr. Underwood who owns the Maycomb Tribune in the city of Maycomb.  If you write to him, you will be arguing that Tom’s verdict was fair or unfair, using evidence from the trial.  Be sure to include at least 2 quotes

Maycomb Tribune

12345 West  Main Street

Maycomb, AL 67890

The next address is for the real Mr. Hust who used to be our principal at OHS and who thinks we ought to quit teaching To Kill a Mockingbird.  He thinks it’s out-dated and that we ought to spend the 7 weeks teaching essay-writing instead of the novel.  Tell him whether or not you agree or disagree with him and explain why using at least 2 quotes from the novel.

Chaffey Joint Union High School District

211 West Fifth Street

Final Vocab List 2

The rest of the final exam will be the business letter you’ve typed and turned in to me no later than May 20.  Fold it correctly.  I will give you an envelope during the exam period which you will address correctly, and into which you will correctly place the business letter.  You will also read aloud your letter as a speech as part of the final exam.

Rubric –ism Paragraph this one I posted several days before the paragraph was due, so you’d have an idea about what I would be looking for.  It also shows examples of how to punctuate using quotation marks.

Extra Credit Theater Performances

OHS Drama II, III, & IV are pround to present an evening of One-Act plays in Room 115 of the Art Building (Building J) on Wednesday, May 19 at 6:30 P.M.  Gourmet Coffee and dessert service begins at 6:00 (for an additional cost.)  Come see the student-directed plays, Art Control, Cinderella Wore Combat Boots, and If You Were My Wife, I’d Shoot Myself.  Admission is $5.  Desserts sold separately.  Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the recently established Colleen Phelps Memorial Scholarship fund.  tickets can be purchased at the door or from Mr. Hansen in Room 115.

In order to get extra credit in my English class, remember to SAVE THE TICKET STUB and staple it to a sheet of lined paper on which you’ve written 1 thing you liked about each of the 3 plays, and 1 thing you weren’t the wild about.   This means you will have written 6 bulleted comments on the paper.
